Mrs. Alawyn Mona Hall Tapley, affectionately known as "Al, Allie, Gabby, GG, or Grandma", 92, resident of Thomas Hamilton Road near Brunson, SC, passed away Tuesday morning, October 14, 2025, at her residence.
Born August 22, 1933, in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Mrs. Tapley was the daughter of the late William P. Hall and Elsie Frances Lewis Hall. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother who will be remembered for her love of travelling and was an excellent cook; best known for her brownies and lasagna. Mrs. Tapley was active in many senior citizen groups throughout the area, notably the senior citizen group at the Hampton County Recreation Center and the Hopewell Baptist Church Senior Citizens Group. Her love for her family also led her to host Thanksgiving at her home for over 50 years, which she and the family thoroughly enjoyed year after year.
Surviving are daughters: Janet Muckenhirn of Varnville, Vickie Brown of Hampton, and Cora Seegers (George) of Brunson; her son, Eddie Tapley of Brunson; four brothers: Fred Hall of North Carolina, Don Hall of Wisconsin, Wayne Hall of Colorado, and Paul Hall (Marilyn) of Rhode Island; two sisters, Brenda Dunbar (Ron) and Pearl Clifton both of Rhode Island, and nine grandchildren: Jennifer Davis (Jody), Samantha Dobson, Amanda Whittaker, Tony Seegers (Allana), DeeDee Jarrell, Adam Sutton, Shane Sutton, David Lee, and Justin Nix (Latisha). There are also many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who survive.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tapley was predeceased by her husband, James Tillman Tapley; a daughter, Linda Tapley; a son, Gary Ridgeway; a granddaughter, Wendy Sutton; two brothers, Benjamin Lewis and Bob Hall, and four sisters, Judy Holt, Jacquelyn Bennett, Carol Moore, and Myrtle Young.
Graveside Memorial Services will be 11 AM Friday, November 28, 2025, in the Sandy Run Cemetery near Hampton.
A visitation will be from 5 PM - 7 PM Monday, October 20, 2025 at Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home located at 300 Mulberry St. W., Hampton, SC 29924.
