Mrs. Ada Lee DeLoach Crews of Crews Farm Road near Varnville died early Monday morning at her residence.

Mrs. Crews was born October 26, 1923 in Varnville, a daughter of the late Henry and Ada Mixson DeLoach.  She had retired with 25 years of service from Hampton School District # 1 as a Lunchroom Supervisor at the Yemassee Elementary School.  Mrs. Crews was a volunteer worker with the Senior Citizens and served as a caregiver with many families in the community.  She had been a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and later became a member of the Huggin Oak Church of God.

Surviving are:  sons:  Eugene F. Crews and wife Anne and W.H. Crews and wife Cathy all of Varnville;  daughter:  Henrietta Crews Gibson and husband Linwood of Varnville;  sisters-in law:  Gloria DeLoach of Varnville, Verlene DeLoach of Hampton and Eleanor S. Crews of Alabama;  and caregivers:  Mary Ann Heape and Diane Johnson.  There are 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 5 great, great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Crews was predeceased by:  her husband:  James Franklin "Frank" Crews;  brothers:  Herbert and George DeLoach; and sisters:  Patsy Lamb and Martha Wooten.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday in Mt. Olive Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery, conducted by Rev. David Schaffer and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Church prior to services.
