Mr. Joseph Archie Harter, Sr., 78, of Harter Ave. near Hampton, SC died early Thursday morning May 3rd, 2012 at the Orangeburg Regional Medical Center.

Born August 7th, 1933 in Hampton he was the son of the late Ottis M. Harter and Josephine Youmans Harter. Mr. Harter was a retired textile worker and was an active Mason and Shriner. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and will be remembered for his love of fishing.

Survivors include his wife of the home Jackie Lee Bessinger Harter; one son: Joseph Harter, Jr. and wife Frankie of Brunson, SC, two daughters: Cindy Johnson and husband Keith of Alpharetta, GA, and Debbie Bullard and husband Perry of Brunson, SC, one step-son: Chris McCormick and wife Lesia of Ehrhardt, SC, and step-daughter: Susan Snipes of Olar, SC. There are nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 5th, 2012 at 3P.M. in the chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Hopewell Cemetery near Hampton, SC.

Friends may call at the funeral home located at 300 Mulberry St. West; Hampton, SC 29924 (803-943-3352) on Friday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. and on Saturday until the hour of services.
